Manor tag sale promises treasures, fun

Livingston Manor, NY – It’s almost summer and for many people, one of the best things about the warmer weather is the opportunity to check out some tempting local yard sale shopping.

Manor Ink spoke with Maria Bivins, owner of the popular Life Repurposed resale shop and creator of the hamlet’s annual Town Tag Sale. As an active member of the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce, several years ago Bivins was thinking of a street fair-type event to draw visitors into town and to have something for guests and residents alike to look forward to.

“A tag sale seemed to be the way to go,” she said. “And that’s how the idea for the Livingston Manor Tag Sale was born.”

After a few years, word spread and the sale grew to be something that locals truly came to anticipate and enjoy. A tag sale is an event where various different vendors sell a variety of items ranging from homegoods to antiques. The Town Tag Sale has space for up to 60 vendors, and anyone can apply to be a vendor for a ten dollar fee. The fee entitles vendors to advertising and a reserved spot at the event, with locations spread throughout downtown Livingston Manor.

Vendor applications must be submitted by Saturday, July 8, at Bivin’s shop, Life Repurposed at 62 Main Street. The event happens on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Most of the vendors will be set up in Renaissance Park so that people can walk in and shop.
