Dollar General robbery puts LMCS in ‘Lock Out’ mode

Superintendent’s Updates: 2024-25 Budget: Jeff Froehlich, LMCS business administrator, gave a preliminary outline of the budget for the next school year. Specifics have yet to be received from the state, but those should be included by the April board meeting. The vote for the 2024-25 budget will be held on Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. What figures have been outlined can be found in the minutes of the Mar. 21 meeting online.

School Security Update: At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 18, Jason Beebe, the school’s resource officer, was notified that an armed robbery ocurred in the Manor and that the perpetrator was still at large. He immediately put the school in a “Lock Out.” Officer Beebe and School Security Officer Jordan Potter then began patrols inside and outside of the building. During a Lock Out, students and staff are free to move within the building, but no one is allowed to enter.The district worked closely with law enforcement throughout the day. Out of an abundance of caution, the Lock Out remained in effect until Tuesday afternoon.

Action Items: The following items were voted and unanimously passed.

  • Minutes of the previous meeting, treasurer’s reports, revenue status and budget appropriation reports.

  • Warrant, CSE, CPSE and Section 504 recommendations.

  • Accept three separate grants (itemized online).

  • Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved as presented.
