Move Sullivan launches new service

Livingston Manor, NY – Move Sullivan, the county’s public transit system, has added a new bus route to better serve residents in our smaller towns. Route E officially began service on Mar. 5, adding stops in Livingston Manor, Roscoe, Callicoon Center, Jeffersonville, Youngsville and White Sulphur Springs.
Move Sullivan first launched in August 2019 with two fixed routes, A and B. The system expanded in September 2022 with Routes C and D, and in January 2025, the Monticello and Liberty Loops were introduced. Now, with Route E, residents have a broader range of travel options covering nearly all of the county.

To experience the new route in action, Manor Ink took a ride on the brand-new bus, which was acquired specifically for the expansion. Stacey Gonzalez, the driver for our trip, is a Livingston Manor resident who started working for Rolling V last May. She drives school buses in the mornings and afternoons, and operates Move Sullivan buses in between.
Gonzalez mentioned that, so far, ridership on Route E has been low, as people are still learning about it. The first week, there weren’t any passengers at all. But she expects ridership to increase as awareness spreads. As she learns firsthand about how the route works for passengers, she also gives feedback to Rolling V, suggesting tweaks to enhance certain aspects of the route while it’s still relatively new.
Move Sullivan has been growing steadily, with ridership data showing over 10,000 trips in January and more than 9,000 in February. Surveys have shown that riders use the service primarily for shopping, medical appointments and getting to work.
The current transit contract runs through December 31, 2025, with a budget of up to $2.5 million. About half of the funding gets reimbursed from New York State, with additional funds provided by federal support. Looking ahead, the county is preparing to contract with a consultant with expertise in rural transportation to help develop an action plan for a broader range of countywide transit.
