Livingston Manor, NY – Manor Ink visited the former Washing Well laundromat on Main Street in the hamlet one afternoon in January. The facility’s single customer at the time, Jack Madeira, had come from Roscoe to do his laundry.

“Things have really improved recently. The last two times I was in here, there was someone fixing the dryers and someone fixing the front door,” Madeira said.

The new owner of the laundromat, the Keiser Redevelopment Project, a group organized by restaurateur Bon Yagi that intends to create a complex centered around a sake brewery on the adjacent property formerly occupied by the Keiser Restaurant Equipment Co. The organization indicated that they are working to improve laundromat operations.

“We continue to repair and maintain the washers and dryers said Project Manager Michael Tucker. “We have added additional signage, parking lot upkeep and repair. In the spring, we will continue cleaning around the building.” He added that “we are continuing to learn about the laundromat business and keep up with the maintenance. We are considering replacing some of the older machines with larger ones that can handle bedding and heavier items.”

The building adjacent to the laundromat is planned for retail operations as part of the larger Livingston Legacy Holdings project.
