Livingston Manor, NY – If you like art and want to shop locally for beautiful artwork, keep your eyes open for The Little Studio, coming in early March. Molly Stahl, a local artist, is opening a new space at 67 Main St., in Livingston Manor, in the storefront formerly occupied by the Long Weekend.
Stahl is quite familiar with the Catskills, having been born and raised here. “I moved away for a long time and went to college, and then I moved back here and started making art,” Stahl said. She intends for her store to be supportive of local artisans.
“My goal is to support local makers in the community,” Stahl continued. “Instead of outsourced and pre-manufactured goods, I want to keep things handmade and local if possible.”
The store will have all locally handcrafted goods from regional artists, Stahl said. “I’m trying to keep it within New York State, as close as possible.” Most of the goods will be created by artists from the community. Stahl also intends to sell her own handmade goods as well.
Along with the artworks for sale, there will also be evening workshops, open to the public, that will offering things like printing and pottery. “Once a week, or every two weeks, there will be workshops,” explained Stahl. “I have decided to make it partially experiential. The back of the space is going to be an open studio, so I’ll be working back there during the day, while the shop is open.”
So, why go to this store? If you are curious about local artists, you should plan on visiting The Little Studio. For more information and updates on the shop’s opening date, visit Littlestudiocreative.com or @littlestudiocreative.
