Bargain hunters throng Manor’s townwide tag sale event

Livingston Manor, NY – It was a bargain hunter’s paradise.
The hamlet’s Chamber of Commerce held its annual Town Tag Sale on Saturday, July 15, and by any standard it was a resounding success. The weather, more than a little volatile throughout much of the month, cooperated with clear skies, comfortable temperatures and smoke-free air, and residents and visitors alike turned out in the hundreds to shop for treasures along Main and Pearl streets.
“The turnout has been really great!” said organizer Maria Bivins of Life Repurposed as she hurried from one seller location to another. “At last count, we have about 70 vendor tables. This is the biggest year yet.”
The scale of this year’s event was affirmed by the fact that parking was at a premium – cars lined upper Main Street, filled the lot behind Peck’s and ran down Pearl Street and up to Rock Avenue. The annual sale exceeded its planned 60-table space allotment, with sellers paying a modest ten dollar fee to set up a booth. Proceeds will benefit the Chamber’s efforts to promote Livingston Manor businesses.
Something for everyone
Volumes of vinyl, too
Livingston Manor’s Town Tag Sale featured a variety of wares, but prominent among them were boxes of LP records, offered by nearly a dozen different vendors. The recent resurgence in popularity of vintage vinyl appears to have created many more sellers to serve scores of eager buyers.
