2024 Merger Study submitted to NYSED for approval

School Board meeting of Aug. 26

Administrative Reports: Reports were given by Adam Larson, high school principal; Jeff Froehlich, school business manager; Lauren Marrero, director of special services; Julie Buck, social studies teacher; and Chris Hubert, elementary principal.

Superintendent’s Update: Supt. John Evans reported that the 2024 Merger Study addendum requested by the NY State Education Dept. has been completed and submitted to the department for their review and approval. The district worked with district superintendents of the Sullivan County and Orange and Ulster BOCES to develop the addendum to the original merger study report that was completed in August 2022. Once approved by the NYSED, Evans will recommend that the LMCS and RCS boards decide on a course of action and a timeline for a re-vote on the proposed merger of the two districts.

Action Items: The following were approved as recommended.

  • Minutes, treasurer’s report, revenue status and budget appropriation reports.

  • Warrants for June 2024.

  • CSE-CPSE and Section 504.

  • Approve district-wide safety plan.

  • Approve contract for services

  • Approve contracts for nursing services

  • Approve disposal of broken or outdated equipment

  • Approve KINKS Plan

  • Accept donations of $500 from the Coach Fred Ahard Foundation and $500 from the Roscoe Kiwanis Club.

  • Extension of transportation contract with Rolling V.

  • Approve sole-source purchase of an AP Lazer SN4024LR engraver.

  • Approve contract extension with Atlas Security of Goshen.
