Liberty, NY – On Tuesday, May 24, the 37th annual Academic Achievement Celebration was held at the Rubin Pollack Education Center at Sullivan BOCES. The county’s top students of the Class of 2022 from each school district were recognized and celebrated at the event. Superintendents, principals, and board presidents attended the event, as did many parents and siblings.

At the start of the ceremony, students and their respective superintendent and principals had their pictures taken. A dinner followed, prepared for the attendees by the Culinary Arts Program at BOCES, under the direction of Kathy Poppo. During the meal, guest speaker NY State senator Mike Martucci spoke about flexibility and being open to change, sharing his experiences while creating his bus company. “Always keep your eyes open to opportunities,” Martucci advised. “When you position yourself well, opportunity will come. Just shift your weight to your toes and take advantage of that opportunity.”

Following the senator’s speech, the awards recognition began while the attendees enjoyed dessert. The students honored gave brief remarks, thanking their various mentors and acknowledging the role their parents played in their academic success. Each was then given a Rocketbook, a reusable notebook with the ability to be uploaded to a cloud. The devices were donated by Rolling V Bus Corporation.
