New shop to feature ‘fun, creative’ wares

Livingston Manor, NY – The Livingston Manor business district will grow yet again this spring when DROOZ and Company, billed as a “modern general store,” will open at 16 Pearl Street in the building that was formerly the site of the Willow Creek Falls Bed & Breakfast.
Proprietor Shelly Kennedy currently operates a DROOZ and Company shop in Skaneateles, NY, but has desired to open a second outlet. She explained that her husband, Marc Strang, is an avid fly fisherman and, after coming down to this area for a number of years, they thought Livingston Manor would be in ideal location for the new venue.
Kennedy’s background is as a decorator, stylist and artist. Her work has been seen on the sets of several television shows, including “Extreme Home Makeover,” and on the pages of various magazines, including Country Living and Better Homes & Gardens. In addition to the retail store, Kennedy also designs custom artwork for commercial applications.
Kennedy has two grown daughters. “DROOZ” is a nonsense word made up by one of her daughters as a child when she wanted to describe things that were “colorful, fun and creative.” “That was the inspiration for the shop,” said Kennedy.
The ground floor of the Pearl Street building will become the store; Kennedy and Strang will use the second floor for their own accommodations. She hopes to open the shop in May.
