Manor’s carnival on ice no longer

Livingston Manor, NY – It was a frigid day, but the weather was near perfect for the return of the annual Livingston Manor Ice Carnival.
With temperatures rising only into the low teens on Sunday, Jan. 30, hundreds turned out for skating exhibitions, races, snow sculptures, hot dogs and cocoa – and a chance simply to slip on a pair of skates and get out on the ice.
After several years of cancellations due to uncooperative weather and the pandemic, the 2022 Carnival, the 63rd, was an unqualified success. Hosted by Livingston Manor Rotary at Rotary Park off Pleasant Avenue, the event began at noon with an appearance by the Carnival’s King and Queen, Anthony Mendoza and Sienna Dutcher. Skating exhibitions followed, and then racers took to the ice in hot competition. At 3 p.m., an hour of free skating concluded the day.
Major sponsors for the festivities were the Lazare & Charlotte Kaplan Foundation, the Sullivan County Youth Bureau and the Town of Rockland. Many local businesses also contributed, ensuring the successful return of the Manor’s renowned winter fete.
