Ice Carnival provides family fun on skates

Livingston Manor, NY – With temps barely escaping teens, the 66th annual Ice Carnival and Family Day came off without a hitch on Sunday, Feb. 2. Sponsored by the hamlet’s Rotary Club and held at Rotary Park on Pleasant Street, the three-hour event skated off at noon and drew scores of families and dozens of young skaters. Hot dogs and hot cocoa were provided, and horse-drawn wagon rides were a favorite of younger attendees. The main event, however, was the skating races for various age groups. Crowds rinkside cheered on their favorites and prizes were awarded. Mother Nature cooperated with weeks of frigid temperatures, allowing this venerable tradition to once again provide a day of outdoor fun for Manorites of all ages.
