Livingston Manor, NY – After a long, cold winter, county residents may want to freshen up their skin. If you do, look for the Sereno Spa, opening in March at 43 Main Street here in the hamlet. Owned and operated by Jamie Waichman, the Spa is a very fancy, wonderfully smelling venue of relaxation for people of all ages. Manor Ink was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the Spa prior to its grand opening later this month.
Waichman started her career as a registered nurse, then she went to school while working full time to become a licensed esthetician.“I started going to an esthetician for myself prior to my wedding, because I suffered from bad acne and hyperpigmentation, a result of my acne,” she said. “Through treatments and proper skin care and nutrition and wellbeing, I learned firsthand what this type of work can do for people, not only for their skin or their overall health, but in general for their confidence.”

Waichman will open the facility in the Manor because it is her home town. “I wanted to give people something that I would have loved having when I was younger,” she said. “I want to offer the community something more.” Waichman loves the Catskills and is happy to live in Sullivan County. “All my siblings have moved to the city, but my husband and I live here with our three children. My mom and dad are here, too.”
The Spa will offer facials, chemical peels and hair removal. Both sugaring and waxing, which are hair removal-type treatments, will be available. Also included will be lash and eyebrow services. A massage therapist will also be joining the staff part-time and will provide clients with relaxing massages. “Eventually, we hope to expand those services, especially given my medical background,” said Waichman.
Mark your calendars for Monday, Mar. 9, at 2 p.m. That’s when the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony, officially opening the Sereno Spa.
On Friday, Mar. 20, there will be a grand opening celebration at the shop. People can walk in anytime from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to tour the space, meet employees and book appointments. Small bites and drinks will be available. For more information and to book an appointment, visit serenodayspa.com.
