Shoppers may be unaware of benefits

Livingston Manor, NY – Are your groceries starting to get expensive? Well, a Peck’s rewards card membership can help you. Starting last year with the change in ownership, the four Peck’s locations in Sullivan County introduced a program to help achieve reduced prices on your groceries by receiving points on every shopping trip.

But many shoppers may not fully understand the system. How it works is customers earn 10 points for every dollar they spend, and the points never expire. They’re redeemable for numerous things. They’ll purchase a gas card or gift card, as well as discounted grocery items. Instore flyers show staples that are a regular part of the program, plus there are weekly special items that points can be used to purchase. Shoppers can find the number of points they have accumulated on their groceries receipts. To register for the program, stores offer a free enrollment card, available at any cashier station or the service desk.

Evan Irwin, Peck’s store manager in Livingston Manor, explained that there is a new program that goes hand-in-hand with the points rewards system.

“It’s a community rewards program,” he said. “Organizations such as fire departments, ambulance corps and food pantries can register, and then shoppers can donate their points for a nonprofit to use. Local organizations can pick up an enrollment form at any Peck’s location.”

Leslie Cox, community relations coordinator at Peck’s, said that initial enrollees are the Manor and Roscoe Fire Departments, Calliope-on-Main’s food pantry in the Manor and Roscoe’s Shepard’s Food Pantry. She expects other local organizations to come on board soon. Once the program rolls out, in the near future, shoppers will be able to donate points when checking out by advising the cashiers to which organization and how many reward points they want to donate. It will be as simple as that to help our local community.
