Case in point: four famous mothers

Mothers have played a very important role in history, from political debates to acting, but each mother loves her kids in their own way. There are so many moms I could tell you about, but I will only write about a few that I’m interested in: Meryl Streep, Eleanor Roosevelt, Maya Angelou and J.K Rowling.
First, Meryl Streep. Streep is an award-winning actress who is very famous, but she is also a mother to four kids – three daughters and one son. Streep both devotes herself to her work and also to her role as a mom. When asked if motherhood or acting was harder, Streep replied, “Mothering, definitely. They don’t even say thank you. There is no comparison to acting.”
Second, Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt was the wife to President Theodore Roosevelt and was the mother of six. While she was advocating for civil rights, she was also raising her grandchildren, because her children were in their teens or grown up. Born October 11, 1884, Eleanor was also the First Lady from 1933 to 1945. She once said, “ I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity.”
Third, Maya Angelou. Angelou, a poet and memoirist, had one child named Guy Johnson. While she was managing work, she was also managing her child. Angelou was born April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, and died in 2014 in Walston-Salmen, NC. Regarding motherhood, she once said, “A mothers love is a ‘cradle to hold me,’” highlighting its nurturing, protective and unconditionally loving nature.
Last but not least, J.K. Rowling. Rowling is the famous author who wrote the “Harry Potter” series and other books, and is the mother of three. J.K. Rowling was born on July 31, 1965, and is an outstanding mother. “Single motherhood is the thing I’m most proud of,” she has said.
All mothers have made sacrifices over their years of motherhood, and in doing so moms all over the world have shape the course of global history. Being a mother is one of the most important jobs in society, bringing new people to the world and raising them to make sure they are happy, caring and contributing members of society. It’s a wonder mothers don’t get paid!
