New life for the old New Age

Neversink, NY – Once a very popular resort, the New Age Health Spa in this hamlet has seen better days. But the Spa has new hope, due to extensive renovations being undertaken by well-known local entrepreneurs.
During the pandemic, Kirsten Foster and her husband Sims, owners of Foster Supply Hospitality, bought the property that once was the Health Spa. Kirsten and Alexandra Silver of FSH recently gave Manor Ink a tour of the property and told us about the plans.
For decades New Age was a well-known resort. “It operated successfully for a very long time,” said Foster. Unfortunately, the resort closed in 2011. “But it is salvageable, with good bones, and we intend to bring it back into a new chapter of its life and honor its past,” she said.
The resort will be given a new name, but FSH intends to restore it similarly to how it had operated. Foster said that the facility had been a leader in the “destination spa” industry, having opened before such resorts became a worldwide phenomenon.
The 230-acre property has 14 buildings, with five of those containing a total of 33 guest rooms. There will also be a restaurant, spa, indoor pool, hot tub, gym, treatment rooms, yoga room and more. “We’ll kind of bring that back to life,” she explained. The property also has about five miles of trails for walking, hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
Foster added that they would have a few rooms for “mindful crafts,” like woodworking and quilting. “We find that a lot of our guests come to us to get away from any day-to-day stresses that they might have, and it helps to clear the brain and calm the mind doing those crafts,” she said.
There will also be a greenhouse to grow food for the restaurant, as well as herbs and flowers to dry and use for treatments. Foster said the new restaurant will feature a mostly plant-based menu, adding with a big smile, “As approved by A Single Bite.”
Foster said that the work started a couple of months ago, and they hope to be open by next summer.
