Fly fishing preserve up for sale

DeBruce, NY – The Willo Preserve, home to the DeBruce Fly Fishing Club for over 60 years, has been put up for sale. The property of over 1,100 acres, which includes two-and-a-half miles of frontage on both banks along the Willowemoc Creek and a two-and-a-half-acre pond, has been listed by Hall and Hall, a national realty company, for the asking price of $12.5 million.

The sale of the property, long owned by a prominent local family, has resulted in the end of the club’s use of its clubhouse, built in 1912, and its fishing access. It is currently looking for a new home.

Past club members have included fly-fishing authors Nick Lyons and Gray Hackle, as well as the wildlife artist Milton Weiler. Theodore Gordon is also thought to have fished on the property’s waters. In addition to the creek access, ponds and the clubhouse, the property has two homes and an extensive trails network.
