It was an afternoon of great music, savory food and family fun. Only, on Saturday, Sept. 7, the festivities took place from noon to 7 p.m. in a new locale. The fifth annual Catskills Conductors Clambake, which for four years has been held at KC’s Airport south of town, moved to the Smoke Joint’s property on Old Rte. 17, in the heart of the Manor.
It was a cool day, but the weather was fine, and crowds sat at picnic tables under the pavilion, enjoying clams, shrimp and barbecue while listening to local musicians perform tunes onstage next to the Willowemoc Creek. The afternoon was, in part, a battle of the bands titled the “Brass Hat Contest,” with performers competing for Best Original Song and Best Cover Performance awards.
Hosted by the Smoke Joint and WJFF Radio Catskill, the Clambake, long a Livingston Manor tradition that was revived in 2020, provided families with an afternoon of home-grown entertainment. Moms and dads enjoyed craft brews from Upward Brewing and the Catskill Brewery while their little ones tried for a cornhole toss hole-in-one. Booths at the festival offered a variety of products and services. With its new location convenient to downtown, the Catskill Conductors Clambake offered yet another reason to visit the bustling hamlet of Livingston Manor.
