Motor show a complete gas

In honor of Chris Pekny

Livingston Manor, NY – The Christopher Pekny’s Annual Motor Show, in its sixth year, once again celebrated the life of the late Chris Pekny, a man who loved cars and “anything with a motor,” as his brother Pete Jr. said.

The car show was held at the Robin Hood Diner in this hamlet on Saturday, Sept. 19. Many awards were given to the exhibitors, including the infamous “Largest Burnout” prize, and numerous raffles were held.

Throughout the afternoon, funds were raised for the Chris Pekny scholarship offered in support of the Career and Technical Education programs at BOCES. The recipient of the 2025 CTE scholarship also attended the show and thanked the Pekny family the award.

Now, a car show might imply that only cars were shown. Due, however, to Chris’s infatuation with everything automotive, the show also included boats, tractors, ATVs, bikes and many more modified vehicles. There were also many vendors at the show. When awards presented, there were many stories shared and jokes made. Pete Pekny, Jr., recalled experiences with his brother, including the time Chris turned his car into “a bowl of spaghetti.”

The event had a very welcoming and comfortable feeling, in large part because of how much the Peknys do for everyone. This month they will be hosting a spaghetti dinner for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and a trivia and a comedy night at the restaurant. The car show was a great success and the Peknys are already planning for next year’s show and for more fundraisers for St. Jude’s.
