Fest goers have a yen for the hen

Parksville, NY – For the third year in a row, this hamlet celebrated its continued revival with a day-long fete, the Parksville B’Kawk, honoring the humble chicken, the town’s mascot in times fair and fowl.
Beginning at noon on Saturday, Aug. 17, revelers and the just plain curious congregated on the Main Street green where vendors, including Jitterbug Sights and Sounds, Mountain Bear Crafts, Blueberry Hill Kitchen, Conflux Gallery, Zeep Naturals and many others, offered their services and wares.
Entertainment included a raucous contest to see who could summon up the best “b’kawk” call – kids seemed to have the vocal edge over older contestants – and music was provided by, among others, Van Morrow and his Mountaintones cohort.
