Avoid these TV productions at all costs

This month I decided to put a little twist on my bimonthly column where I recommend different movies and TV shows to watch. Instead, I will share movies and shows that you should not watch. I wouldn’t recommend watching these movies and shows for different reasons, such as a bad plot, poor acting or just not worthwhile in general. You can watch them if you’d like, but I highly advise against it.
“Ginny & Georgia” 2021; rated TV-14
“Ginny & Georgia” is a show from a few years ago that is about a mother and daughter who are just making their ways through life, one step at a time. It isn’t a bad show really, but it absolutely can make you cringe when watching it. The show is geared toward teenagers, but you can tell that whoever the scripter writers were, they’re far from their teenage years. There are some moments where things that are said or done are just very eye-rolling. The overall plot of the show isn’t awful, but this little flaw is what earned it a spot on this list.
“1917” 2019; rated R
This movie, set in World War I, follows two British soldiers on a mission to save 1,600 of their fellow fighters, including one who is the brother of one of the protagonists. I had to watch this movie for a school project, and I love watching movies, but I quite literally fell asleep watching it. The idea for the story was good in theory, but it was honestly just boring. Though the action was somewhat eventful at the end, overall the plot was slow and underwhelming. My brother is obsessed with history and he loves learning about it, and even he didn’t enjoy watching “1917.” The graphics and the acting are incredible, but it’s just sad that they put all of that talent and hard work into a movie that’s – literally – a snooze.
“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” 2024; rated TV-MA
This show was released earlier this year and is based on the popular book of the same name written by Holly Jackson. The series was created because many people loved the book, but there is one major problem with this version. It’s nothing like the book. I have heard complaints again and again about how different the prodction is from Jackson’s original story, which has made many fans who love the novel very unhappy. It’s just simply one of the many shows and movies that don’t do the book they’re based on justice.
