Which are you? Canine or feline?

Cats and dogs are the most popular pets in the world.

Cats are independent and affectionate; dogs are loyal and obedient. But people often disagree about which pet is better. There will never be a right or wrong answer to which pet is preferable, because everyone has a different opinion. If a loyal, loving pet and trustworthy companion is desired, a dog is a good choice. If low maintenance is more important, a cat is a better choice. Dogs and cats are very different animals, and they have different attitudes, needs, and habits. Understanding these differences can help in the process of choosing between them.

For love and loyalty, not to mention protection, a dog is the choice. Dogs provide us with a sense of emotional wellbeing and unconditional love. This is how dogs got the label “man’s best friend.” The life expectancy of a dog is usually seven to fourteen years. They require a food and water bowl, a leash and collar, a dog bed, toys, chews and treats. Owners have the responsibility of playing with their dogs, so it only makes sense that dog people tend to be more active. That is why dogs make great pets for people who love going outside. Also, dogs usually cannot be left alone too long, and they will also get very bored easily.

On the other hand, for ease of care or for peace and quiet, cats can be a better choice. Cats are quite independent and do not require much attention. Regular feeding and regular cleaning of their litter box is required. They can be easily trained to use the box, which means, unlike dogs, you don’t have to let them out so they can relieve themselves. It comforts owners to know that cats are simply there, and although cats rarely responds to owners’ calls, these furry friends will show affection by nuzzling or rubbing against their people.

Cats are generally lazy; they can sleep up to 16 hours a day. Some cats, though, are very active and healthy. They grow quickly and are able to amuse themselves all day while their owners are away. Cats typically don’t mind being left at home alone. This is why cats are good pets for people who have to work during the day. Cats are also great for small homes and apartments, since they are small animals.

Cats and dogs both make wonderful pets, and can teach us responsibility. The decision about which species you choose depends on you. So when choosing between a cat or a dog, you should consider how much time you can dedicate to the pet, how much you can afford to spend, and what pet you would prefer. A pet owner must decide how much effort he or she wants to put forth.

Both cats and dogs are easy to raise, but they are very different, and you need to figure out which of the two you would prefer to raise. Some people are more a “cat person” while others are “dog people.” But I think most people like both.
